Toads

When we lived out on the farm in Colorado we loved listening to the toads sing their lullaby at night. The kids would tramp through the tall grass and stray wheat, during the sunlit hours of the day, looking diligently for those toads who sang so lovely to us each night. When the toads looked up at the children with wonder in their eyes, you know, with that mysterious gaze much different from any other little creature, and may even follow them around after they put them down, I reminded them to watch carefully for it is more than likely a faery in disguise.
